NYSERDA is offering free online Building Electrification Training through the Steven Winter Associates’ SWA Academy, a user-paced learning platform. There are three standalone courses on topics related to the electrification of space heating in residential buildings.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for each training.

Each week in May and June, staff from the Residential Energy Assessment (REA) and EmPower/AHP Programs will hold Office Hours to field questions on the NY Home Energy Portal (NYHEP). Each office hour session will cover a specific topic, please make sure you are registering for a session that covers your training needs. Participating contractors should bring their “How do I…“ questions on modeling, forms/reports, homework assignments, etc. to be prepared for the transition to the NY HEP in June. For the first three Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. ET for the month of May the Comfort Home team will be hosting a training series about Compass. Each week we will cover a new stage of the project life cycle. The first in the series will cover basics, navigation, terminology of Compass and how to submit an assessment start to finish. The second training will cover how to submit a load reduction install and the final one will cover how to submit a HVAC install.

The NY Home Energy Portal, formally referred to as the Residential Market Engagement System (RMES), is a new online platform NYSERDA is implementing in Spring 2023. Get to know the platform now by watching the recorded NY Home Energy Portal demonstration and see how the platform can help manage your projects. Additionally, important information on the NY Home Energy Portal was covered in the January 6 and February 3 contractor webinar. Contractors are required to view this webinar if they were not present.
Below are the regional in-person and virtual live contractor training sessions:
In-person sessions are limited to two seats per contractor. Contractors have been preassigned to locations. The designated Program lead will be notified by email with the following information:
Names of the two most active users in the company of the NY HP Portal. This can be used to help identify the best staff to participate in the in-person session.

Virtual Training Sessions
If you cannot attend the in-person session or would like additional staff members to be trained, there will be live virtual sessions. For the virtual sessions, there is unlimited seating and sessions are available to all staff who want to be trained. Please register using the links below.
Following the live sessions, a recorded virtual session will be posted and links will be provided to the contractor support site and the EmPower/AHP knowledge articles.
